Cadaveric Research Academic Board (CRAB-AORA)

Under the Aegis of AORA India

We are proud to announce the formation of the Cadaveric Research Academic Board (CRAB) under the esteemed aegis of AORA India. This pioneering initiative represents a significant step forward in our collective pursuit of excellence in regional anesthesia education, research, and innovation.

CRAB-AORA is envisioned as a dedicated academic platform to promote structured, ethical, and impactful cadaveric research in the field of regional anesthesia. By facilitating high-quality anatomical and procedural exploration, CRAB aims to:

  • Enhance the understanding of sonoanatomy and its clinical correlations
  • Support the development and validation of novel regional anesthesia techniques
  • Provide structured guidance and mentorship for fellows and clinicians pursuing cadaver-based research
  • Standardize protocols and best practices for cadaveric workshops and research methodologies
  • Foster national and international collaboration in education and innovation

The board will work closely with academic institutions, teaching centres, and experienced faculty to conduct workshops, curate research projects, and publish evidence-based outcomes that will further enrich the practice of regional anesthesia.

With this initiative, AORA India reaffirms its commitment to advancing knowledge through hands-on learning and meaningful research—laying the foundation for safer, more precise, and more effective regional anesthesia practices.

Together, let's elevate education through science and skill.

Mission Statement

To advance the science and practice of regional anesthesia through cadaveric research by fostering anatomical precision, promoting innovation, and delivering high-quality education. We are committed to:

  • Enhancing Patient Safety: By improving anatomical understanding, refining techniques, and reducing procedural complications.
  • Empowering Clinicians: Providing hands-on cadaveric training to anaesthesiologists and fellows to master advanced regional anesthesia techniques.
  • Driving Innovation: Supporting research that explores new nerve blocks, anatomical variations, and emerging technologies.
  • Building Collaboration: Creating a multidisciplinary platform for knowledge exchange between anaesthesiologists, anatomists, and researchers.
  • Upholding Ethics: Advocating for the ethical use of cadavers in education and research while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and respect.

Core Values

  1. Excellence: Commitment to the highest standards of research and education.
  2. Integrity: Upholding ethical principles and transparency.
  3. Innovation: Fostering creativity and the pursuit of new knowledge.
  4. Collaboration: Promoting teamwork and interdisciplinary partnerships.
  5. Education: Dedication to continuous learning and knowledge dissemination.
  6. Respect: Valuing all individuals and cadaveric donors.
  7. Safety: Prioritizing patient safety in all research and educational activities.

Vision Statement

To become a global leader in cadaveric research for regional anesthesia—pioneering innovation, enhancing clinical outcomes, and shaping the future of safe, precise, and effective anesthesia care.

We envision a future where:

  • CRAB-AORA is the premier academic hub for cadaveric research in regional anesthesia across India and beyond.
  • Every anesthesiologist has access to anatomically accurate, evidence-based techniques to improve patient care.
  • New block techniques and procedural innovations emerge through our collaborative research.
  • Cadaveric education is a standard component of regional anesthesia training worldwide.
  • We contribute to the global scientific discourse, shaping guidelines and best practices for patient safety and clinical excellence.

Goals

The key objectives of CRAB-AORA are as follows:

  • Research:
    • Establish a standardized protocol for cadaveric regional anesthesia research.
    • Publish a minimum number of research papers annually.
    • Secure funding for research projects.
  • Education:
    • Develop and conduct regular cadaveric workshops and courses.
    • Create online educational resources.
    • Establish a fellowship program in cadaveric regional anesthesia.
  • Collaboration:
    • Build partnerships with national and international institutions.
    • Organize national conferences and symposia.
    • Establish a network of research and educational professionals.
  • Resource Development:
    • Create a database of cadaveric findings.
    • Establish a cadaver lab with state-of-the-art equipment.
